Czech vodka containing lethal levels of the deadly poison methanol has been seized by police in Małopolska.
Some 10,000 bottles were impounded, according to the radio station RMF FM. At least two people from the region have already been hospitalised, after drinking brands labeled Lassky Tuzemak and Lunar. Another spirit, Tuzemak, put a third person in hospital.
According to police, bottles bearing official Czech customs stamps are not dangerous. However, the illegal produce contain enough methanol to cause blindness, and even small doses could prove fatal.
