Poland’s first ‘Veggie Parade‘ takes place this weekend, as vegans and vegetarians take to the streets from the Barbakan to Bronowice, to promote the benefits of a meat-free lifestyle.
Such marches have already been held in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Berlin and Milan. Now it’s coming to Kraków… and the issues at stake are not just about diet. Producing meat consumes vast resources, and adds to the pollution in the earth’s atmosphere. Some scientists in Sweden even say that, by 2050, we will have no choice but to go vegan, as lifestock will by then have severely depleted supplies of drinking water.
The march will take place on Saturday, October 6, from 2.30pm. All are invited to take part – carnivores included. Along the way, there will be an opportunity to taste vegetarian and vegan dishes, from Kraków’s ‘green’ shops and restaurants.
