1138, October ??- Birth of the future king Kazimierz II Sprawiedliwy (Kazimierz the Just).
1384, October 16 – Queen Jadwiga crowned.
1413, October 2 – Union of Horodło draws Poland and Lithuania further apart.
1466, October 19 – Poland and the Teutonic Knights declare peace. Again.
1501, October 23 – Union of Mielnik, Poland attempts to make friends with Lithuania again.
1582, October 15 – No, really – October – Poland adopts the Gregorian calendar.
1672, October 16 – The Treaty of Buchach calls half time in the Polish-Ottoman war.
1676, October 17 – At Żurawno, the Polish-Ottoman war ends in a draw, from the neutral viewpoint.
1677, October 20 – Stanisław I Leszczyński becomes king for the first of two times.
1763, October 5 – Death of Augustus III.
1773, October 14 – Poland establishes the world’s first Ministry of Education.

2005, October 9/23 – Lech Kaczyński wins election to become new president.
