First it was the Stefan Batory – a 54-metre long floating conference centre moored illegally in the shadow of Wawel castle. Now the banks of the river Wisła will be home to a new ‘super ship’ – and it’s more than twice the size of the Batory.
The Oxala is a 120-metre long barge, which will include offices, a hotel and apartments. It’s permanent home is expected to be on the Podgórze side of the river. Aleksander Mirek, of Kontrapunkt architects, told the newspaper Gazeta Krakowska that the boat would in fact be three units, connected by glass passages.
As reported in KrakówPolska, the Stefan Batory was until now the largest ship on the river in the city. It recently relocated to its original berth under the Manggha museum, after a failed attempt to secure a spot next to Wawel.
