A man who used hi-tech spy kit to cheat at his taxi driver test could be jailed for up to eight years.
The man was behaving suspiciously at a test for would-be taxi drivers, testing their knowledge of Kraków. After the test he was confronted by examiners who were concerned by his nervous behaviour. The candidate initially denied wrong-doing, but police were called and found that he was fitted with a tiny headset and microphone connected by Bluetooth to a phone – via which he had been receiving test answers from a third party.
The ‘knowledge’ test for taxi drivers in Kraków is notoriously difficult. According to the Department for Records of Vehicles and Drivers, just 40 per cent pass the test each year.
