A literary award in the name of Nobel laureate Wisława Szymborska and funded from her estate is to be the most generous in Poland.
The poet, who died in February 2012, stated in her will that a foundation should be established to support and reward writers. In line with her wishes, the 200,000zł literary prize has been established. The winner each year will be the author or translator of a new volume of poetry in Polish.
Five will be nominated for the first award, with the first winner expected to be announced in September next year.
