Wiktoria Rożkowska and Natalia Kowalenko will star in a concert dedicated to the memory and talents of the singer Anna German, at Collegium Maius in Lublin on February 17.
Anna German (pictured) was a unique performer whose voice earned her an enduring place in the hearts of Poles. She was also a woman touched more heavily than most by tragedy, having been involved in a serious car crash in her early 30s and developing bone cancer, the disease which would eventually kill her at the age of 46.
She was born in Uzbekistan, part of Soviet Russia, to a German Dutch family, but was considered by many Poles to be Polish, releasing albums in Polish between 1964 and 1979. This concert will feature many of the songs from those albums, and others in Russian. Serhii Karas will provide violin accompaniment, with Ilona Shulak on piano.
