Bydgoszcz has become the first Polish city to make it to the final of a prestigious European award.
The RegioStars Award honours the most innovative projects undertaken with European Funds, and is run by the European Commission.
Bydgoszcz, while not winning at RegioStars 2013, was nominated for its Wyspa Młyńska regeneration project. Work began in 2005, and cost almost 100 million złoty. Regeneration included renovations at museums, improvements to sports and recreation facilities, and the opening of an entrepreneurial centre.
