A former police officer is believed to have shot himself following a siege in Warsaw, in which anti-terrorist officers attempted to arrest him in connection with the stabbing of his wife.
The 42-year-old holed up in his apartment in Praga on the afternoon of January 15, as police attempted to persuade him to surrender. When officers entered the building he was found dead. According to PAP, the Polish Press Agency, the man shot himself with his own police issue gun.
His wife, 37, needed hospital treatment for knife wounds to her back and chest. The couple’s two children were not at home during the incident.
