A second man has been arrested in connection with the brazen theft of a two-metre high painting from a church.
The 34-year-old was charged with theft, in relation to the disappearance of the 18th century picture called Epitafium Biskupa Józefa Pawłowskiego, from the Church of Św. Stanisłaus (the Fara church) in Poznań. The picture was stolen on January 24 in broad daylight – and CCTV images show a man carrying it in the vicinity of the church soon afterwards.
Another man, 32-year-old Tomasz P, has already been arrested in connection with the theft. Both face up to ten years in jail if convicted.
