A school has been awarded a rare holy relic – part of the cloak of former Pope John Paul II.
The John Paul II School in Ostrów Wielkopolski was awarded the relic after a request from parents. John Paul was a sponsor of the school during his lifetime.
The relic will be exhibited in the school hall, and, on April 30, the second anniversary of the beatification of John Paul, there will be a special day of prayer.
Although it is rare for a school to be awarded such an honour, the archdiocese of Poznań does already possess a relic of the former Pope. A few drops of his blood are kept at the cathedral there.
