The Małopolska Garden of Art has been awarded one of the top prizes in a prestigious online competition.

Almost 70,000 people voted for the museum, which opened in October 2012.

It was one of two Polish venues to gain ‘Building of the Year’ status from the architecture portal ArchDaily. The other was the Scientific Information Centre and Academic Library in Katowice.

Małopolska Garden of Art is a multi-disciplinary arts centre, with a theatre, exibition spaces, courtyard, education facilities and more. It covers some 4,300 square metres, over five floors. Construction took almost three years, and the project cost 48.3 million złoty, including 33.4 million from the EU.

The Katowice library (Centrum Informacji Naukowej i Biblioteka Akademicka – CINiBA) opened in September 2012. It cost 80 million złoty facility, including 53m zł from the European Regional Development Fund, and is one of the most modern and advanced of its kind in Poland.
