Football fans are being urged to give blood, to save the lives of rival supporters who were seriously injured when the bus carrying them home from a match crashed.
Two people died and 21 were injured, when the Lechia Gdańsk supporters’ bus crashed after the match against Piast Gliwice. The bus came off the DK1 road near Włocławek in central Poland, on March 18 at around 4am.
Of those seriously injured, ten are in hospitals in Włocławek, Toruń and Aleksandrów.
The Piast Gliwice website is now running a campaign urging fans to give blood to help them.
A message on the site says: “The blue and red fans join the campaign to help the injured fans’ of the white and greens.
“Let us remember that the accident could happen to any of us, instead of white and green supporters, it could be any of our brothers and friends in a critical condition.”
Give blood at the Institute of Oncology; the Piast Gliwice website suggests that you tell them that it’s for the injured football fans.
